In such context where all 4 faces are visible at the same time, it'd be obvious Lost, but if each face was seen separately they could be just anyone. Meh.

If you open the options box for the Extract tool, there is a checkbox at the top that says "Separate Extraced Faces". With that unchecked any faces you extract stay within the same multi-object.
Select the faces you want to hide then invert the selection (ctrl+shift+i) and isolate (shift+i). The faces will be completely hidden and unselectable. Hope it helps!
right, I've never really felt like i needed it too. Is there a specific reason you want that? And yes, isolate selected faces works exactly as you expect, just select the faces u want and isolate it, so you hide anything else.
