sharkskin handle weave... very nice looking, this is a very fine detail that only sword collectors and martial artists know about. I think it would definitely be worth it to do that correctly, the handle wrap you have looks more like tennis racket wrap with holes cut in it.
I find it weird that the glyphs wrap around the edge at the bottom. Seems more likely they just be wrapped around the bottom piece. Then maybe some other design on the top of it. And if the red stuff is glowing you should put some faint glow highlights on the pillars and whatnot where it's close.
OK, then you could try using Skin Wrap to project UVs from the original low-res model onto the newly imported Muddie. I haven't done this, but I seem to recall others doing it, a search might turn up some info about Skin Wrap.
Alright, made a lot of changes fixing the proportions. Chunked up the main section of it considerably as well as the grip. Re did the wraps to make them look more like they were wrapped on top of each other. Added some more detail as well. Thanks for the feedback!
obviously lex had a tiny sliver of crystal left, and he wrapped it with some sand and a bit of coconut and threw it in the ocean why didnt he just get a lil gold, wrap around the crystals and grow him some gold in some private hiddel lakes.
Depends on the model, sometimes I just model a new low poly by hand. Sometimes I use a shrink wrap method where I make a rough low poly, subdivide it and shrink wrap it over the high poly (or mid poly). Sometimes I use autotopo in 3D Coat.
"a sky with clouds texture" Do you work in a game engine? In 99% of them skybox textures require special "tiling". Wrapping around or sth. like that; I don't remember, it should be in material/shader. For instance: http://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/HOWTO-UseSkybox.html Wrap mode here, I believe.
Umm... Use multiple subtools. Say. 1. Body + limbs 2. Head 3. Shirt on top of the body (1) 4. Arm wraps on top of the arms (1) 5. Leg wraps on top of the legs (1) 6. Hands/Claws 7. Pants on top of the lower body (1) etc.
Looks cool! I don't specialize in weapons so I'm not the best for criticism here, but I find it interesting and like the bit of story you have for it. I think the rings for the soundwaves are maybe just a bit too large, but thats it. I like the design & the idea behind them! I especially like the part that wraps back…
I think you shouldn't have to deal with this fix up process at all - it's an unnecessary step. for horizontal tiling things it's easy enough to just enable symmetry on the texture border area - no need for wrap mode action. But even fully tileable (with wrap mode) is quite doable, you just need to do the setup very…
