As most artists know starting a project is the fun part, the excitement of creating fantastic art can sometimes be over whelming. More often than not however projects get abandoned because we just don't like the look of our models before we even finish them. This is surprisingly common for beginners and here is why. Most…
I was able to import only the mesh BEFORE it became the Mod Tool, back when it was just XSI|EXP for HL2. I assume with this release they've completely disabled it. That sucks. This must be Softimage's way to influence users to atleast TRY their modeling tools, and not just as a HL2 exporter. Good marketing strategy.
I have a theory as to why we love them ponies... -There are action oriented female ponies who don't act as though they're carpet munching hippies (not every action girl is a lesbian you know). -They teach wholesome values through subtlety, without jerking it off in your face (the last show to do this was the OLD Sonic…
Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated. It's definitely something I wanna try, and it's good to know it is actually possible to at least start out a bit by yourself. I'm certainly in no position to drop my full time job to go do an apprenticeship but as Spider mentioned, part time might be an option. I haven't…
[ QUOTE ] $39.99 is the optimum price for games. Just ask CliffyB. Unforunately, developers have to deal with this thing known as a Publisher. Publishers invest a lot of money in the games they produce, so obviously they want a return on their investment, and why invest in something that isn't a sure thing. The publisher…

Hey Brandon! Sorry I didn't do this crit before. I wanted to, but given that I work at UbiTO, I felt like I needed to stay out of it all, even though I wasn't a judge of the contest.. This crit is entirely me, and in no way related to Ubisoft. I think you`ve really got off to a great start with this. The guys above have…
We are in the late stage of developing Second Hand: Frankie's Revenge (Steam Page) and we have a backlog of 3D assets that need to be created. I'm looking for a 3D artist to model and texture these pieces following our existing art style and the concepts that will be provided. See renders of some existing items at the end.…
Hey, So, like most game artists out there at the minute I've been looking into the whole PBR thing and Unreal4. There seem to be 2 different methods I've seen so far and I'm wondering which is the best to use and when. Firstly, I've seen objects with texture sheets laid out pretty much as they have been for donkeys years.…
