I think you might be able to turn on pose mode and scale the pieces you wish to change, that might save you from having to reskin, or like Rick said bake/save/reload.
Hello. You need to write it under the Python tab: import NSUV reload(NSUV) This also applies to shelf buttons (make sure you tick the little Python checkbox when creating them).

Another alternative: In BodyPaint3d you can also save a .psd image of your camera view. Then you can paint in PS and reload and reproject as a layer in BP.
loading one of the sample projects works. I had to press reload in 3do though because they didn't load by default. I am also able to make change to the textures while keeping the links in 3do.
this is probably mentioned already but posting anyways to move up the priority. hidden group node does not stay hidden upon scene reload. object list still shows it is hidden but the group is visible in viewport anyways.
