Hello, everyone! This is my first shot in handpainting. Would love to hear some feedback. There was no specific concept I went by, except for some basic sketches. Diffuse texture is 1024. Initially I planned to reduce it to 512 after finishing, but I decided not to, just so you can see and point out my mistakes easier.…
I started this last tuesday and worked a few hours a day. Final polycount came out at little less than 12000 tris. Mapped it on a single 2048 texture except for the railings and ladders which use a tiling 64px texture. Further plans involve making some microdestruction on it and import it into Strike Fighters 2 so I can…
I didn't get to do much today so these are a few sketches I squeezed in throughout the day. This is all done freehand except for the top left which I posted about earlier today. Still have some more practice to do but it's been a useful exercise!
nope, fletch... not if you have to start sculpting off an existing diffuse. I won't get into the crazy history of how I ended up in that situation, except to say that it was four years ago and the diffuse map was king. edit: er...make that FIVE years ago. daaang
Nice job so far! Except for maybe his weapon (which looks like a pizza cutter and makes him seem a bit comical), I really love his props and accessories - they match him quite well! *edit* ah there we go! that's much better! :)
looks sexy as all hell. my only comment is you have wear and tear everywhere that I can see, except... I don't see any on the handle. I could be wrong and not noticing it, but, the handle/grip looks to perfect in condition compared to the rest of the gun. no scratches.
This last week of work, zbrush, and realizing I need to learn UDK vertex painting, which means learning shaders. Been following lots of tutorials. So far nothing except for diffuse and really light normal maps. Will hopefully work that out in the next few revisions.
Same as Tda, except I just say "I make the stuff you see when you play a video game" and if they ask something like "how do you does that work" then I roll my eyes and condescend as much as possible until they go away
Is this a standard that's enforced? I've seen other artists who do 3D but still have 2D or photography work included. Even the person I quoted above seems to have both in his portfolio. If it's about talent, then I rather work hard and become exceptional at it to keep it.
i don't have half life 2, and episode 1 :) . Mission complete? but i don't have anything to trade for... except for the game I mentioned above. (Osmos). edit: which I apparently can't trade, because I didn't buy it as a gift, but for myself... laaame.
