I really like the idea.....wires and gear coming soon thanks for the input http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/ac337/troy_gardner1/Polycount_update/back_best_zpsf5d67c97.jpg still working on it of course, I plan to have a rough of the final model by…
Hi, I'm just getting back into 3D modeling and animation after about 20 years hiatus. I learned 3D Studio back in 1993 on a 486-based PC with 16MB of RAM. I am working toward freelancing under the name "Amalgamated Polygons." Hope things are still hopping here! - Nick
Took a break for the past couple weeks to do a 1911. Now I'm back at this. Small update: Basic external blockout. One I do the internal blockout, all of the external mesh will be replaced with panels that will be baked into the normal map. This is just to get the main forms of both the exterior and interior down before I…
uzis are made of cheap sheet steel that's been painted - on other weapons you'll also find ceramic coating and various other non metal finishes depending on what it's for and how much it costs. A decent quality 1911/ older style rifle etc. will be blued - that's a chemical treatment similar to anodising that leaves an…
Jesus they totally don't realize that any polygon-based game they're showing for comparison looks 1000x times better because it had some fucking art direction? right now their stuff looks like chrome spheres rendered over checkerboards from the year 1993, all around terrible literally a pile of shit with unlimited level of…
Heres some more progress I should probably mention now im not going for a 'specific' model 1911, but I like the world war 2 ones because I think the modern ones look like garbage. Im mainly keeping the simple shapes/curves from the ww2 one but incorporating other features I like
hahaha that was an excellent read. This is my fav quote: "Do you know when people played games via LAN? 1963, probably! Diablo III doesn't need LAN play because it is on the cutting edge of the technological wave, surfing into tomorrow on a board made of science and wearing the Bermuda shorts of discovery. " I feel like i…
Hey thanks for the reply. Its actually for a bunker that's part of the Atlantic Sea Wall, circa 1944. I'm modeling it to represent how it look around the D-Day landings so it will still be fairly new since it was constructed between 1943-44. It actually wasn't quite finished, but still operational, by the D-Day landings.…
Well, I came across a few pictures of this knife (the default counter-strike one) and decided it would be a good idea to try something a bit easier to work out my workflow for my 1911 model. These pictures are in chronological order, so there's some things missing in the earlier ones. I'm having a few problems with xNormal…
Looking like a good start...one thing on the pistol though, while you might see a texture like that on the top of the slide though not quite as noisy, the sides of the slab would be machined and there by much smoother. I suggest you also look at high resolution photographs of 'blued' pistols, like the Walther and the 1911.…
