I am experiencing an issue with a trim sheet that contains detail and serves as a texture map on a plane. I have noticed flickering when viewed from an angle, which I suspect is due to the lighting, as this problem did not occur previously. Could anyone provide guidance on how to resolve the flickering issue?
Pick up some books on lighting for cinematography - I highly recommend John Alton's [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Painting-With-Light-John-Alton/dp/0520089499]Painting with Light[/ame]. You need to use lighting to shape forms and extract subject matter out of a scene - same principles apply to games as they do to film. Right…
This looks great! I love the depth and details, it's pretty creepy! The fire in the barrel really adds a sense of presence to the scene, and the dripping water everywhere is a nice (and eerie) contrast. Only two things which I think could use a bit of improvement: the first being the flickering lights. It's a great idea,…
Thanks so much for the reply guys. Damn,,one would have to be online to use it like Cryengine?Thats too bad.I kinda prefer to work offline cause u can use it anywhere and anytime.Requiring internet connection is kinda restricting,u could go on a trip or vacation and not need to bother about internet. Why is it…
I need your help guys! I have still problems with the lighting... Its so hard for me to figure out how to get good interior lighting for this small scene. Sometimes I think the unreal engine have some problems with all the small gaps, buttons and shapes I have. So maybe its to small to get good results. Here are some of my…
I'll speak about lighting since that's what stood out to me the most. Also is this rendered? The XYZ anchors looks like it was a screenshot taken in Maya. Lighting feels flat in these shots though 2nd picture seems to be heading in the right direction though it needs work. Moreover the materials seem like they're lacking…
Well first, light shafts only visible in unreal when looking into the light source. An unfortunate limitation of the technique. There are a few things you could do for such a small scene such as render a ton of volumetric particles in the space. Ive done this and with some tweaks it looks pretty great. If you're interested…
Hey everyone, Thanks for all the ideas. I'm in agreement that the lighting was off before. I'm going to be cracking down on the lighting pretty soon trying to get it correct. I think I'll go with a night/snowy scene and try to do some lighting like you see in Thief. It's pretty dramatic with lots of dust/smoke. Also plenty…
Welcome to the fourms. The only critiques I have is your lighting in hurting your work. .The exterior of your Avalon scene is decent, that is your best one. The interior, not so much. Try just adding point lights in the windows and openings to the sky. remove the rest of the lights you have in there that don't have a light…
Have the light source come down from above and maybe have some indirect lighting/second light source from the floor. That combined with a proper AO pass should give the model enough info to convey the forms properly. This would work in an open environment. If these models are to be placed inside a dungeon or something I…
