book binding is a lot of fun! Making a sketchbook is a great idea. Its really rewarding to hold the book afterwards, flip through it. Would be great to then fill it full of drawings! While i haven't made a sketchbook, I've made two books for my wife, which is a little more involved because you've gotta be specific about…
Hi!! I wanted to ask you for some advice. I'm looking to create a portfolio of creatures (and maybe a little bit of characters, but preferably creatures), which is what I really enjoy doing, and I want to increase my chances of getting hired. So I want to add more skills to my repertoire. I'm thinking of starting to study…
In my texture, I try to provide high quality surface detail, so the asphalt and road markings are visible upon close up (like this) Now I need a normal map to go with it for extra depth. I tried playing with invert settings in photoshop and baking it through the xnormal filter but it just comes out ugly. I'm thinking of…
We're building a live weekly quiz app for tens of thousands of simultaneous players. The look is dark and theatrical; set in a future where things have gone slightly wrong, somewhere between graphic novel and mobile game UI. Hi! Im pretty new to 3D (roghly half a year in zBrush) so I'm more or less used to sculpting and other zBrush processes, BUT I know literally nothing when it comes to laying out UV's, texturing and baking maps. For some reason, it became a huge problem for me, somehow I couldnt google enough information so i decided to do…
EDIT: It seems that PureRef and Kuadro both do the job that refBoard Maker was going to do and they are integrated into the program. I'd say go check them out for a better solution (played with pureRef yesterday and it is more full featured than refBoard as well) Heyo! So started working on a little tool to grab all the…
See the CHALLENGES menu at the top. Could we have more of these? Sure. I welcome anyone to go ahead and start one! I think Pinkfox didn't ask for permission to start the Bimonthly, they just got it going, and they keep maintaining it, and it's awesome. I welcome more of these, if someone is interested in stepping up to…
How about making a tiling normal map.You could just bake the normals of a sphere and scatter them around manually or with something like Substance Designer, to make a tiling texture. Then you can erase the parts/ make it flat were you want to.
Hi, I was recommended by Eric Chadwick to post my weapon again because I'm determined to finish it but I'm stuck where I am. High poly is completed. Low poly is completed. I have unwrapped the low poly to the best of my ability and tried to pack it. Things I haven't been able to figure out / wrap my head around is: 1.…
