Hey All, Ive been working on a ultra high res scanning method to capture skin displacement details of faces, body parts, animals etc for projection painting using programs like Mudbox, Mari and ZBrush. I wanted to share the results, since its a little whacky and I havent seen anyone else doing this publicly. The results…
hi Wayne... i think theres some good points above. my main point would be that more of your props need some time spending on th etextures, esp the doors and chair. these points of interest hold your eyes, but theyre textures are plain. prefer your lighting setup to adam brome paint over =P
Thanks for the comment and honestly I just tried to follow the concept art as closely as possible, maybe the original artist could answer this question better. As I see it, its just an aesthetic choice. Maybe it was supposed to remind of big puppy eyes (since I perceive this alien as a friendly one)? :) Thanks, glad you…
Jackablade Thanks for the tip man! Ill be sure to beef up the thinner parts. The actual 3D print won't be the final product btw. I plan on using it only to create a mould for the product Neoncypher Thanks mate. Ah good point. I shall rework the forearms! iWeReZ Ah thanks for the heads up man. I am still trying to wrap my…
The point was if you looked at a red on a mac display, and your buddy's display, and a print out, it was all the same.. (back in the day) Now it's totally different that's one of the reason the majority of graphics were done on Mac's you could trust the colors coming from your displays. Now not so much, tech has gotten…
I'll just vouch for what I've used which are Samsung 226CW and Dell Ultrasharp, both running at 1680x1050. I've used the Dell for print work, and when calibrated and profile matched with the printers properly, are as good as painting on paper. I chose it over the Samsung for my monitor at home as well, because of the…
@CarlK3D, thanks very much for your feedback, some really good points you have there and will take them into consideration :) @Tobbo, glad you like the bridge, it was in fact my first hand painted textured model. But also some really good points you have there, thanks. I do agree that a portfolio is never finished. From…
I've always had a really hard time visualizing how the texture is going to look on the model from Photoshop. It was always fine for blocking in details, but was excruciatingly slow when I started getting down to the finer details. Things have gotten much easier since finding 3dcoat, being able to paint directly on the…

I guess Pior's thread to kick his ass influenced me to create my thread to kick mine ;) Most of you already saw it in the WAYWO thread, though. I'm pretty much done with all the accessories and stuff and I'm starting the details on it. The goal for this character is getting 3D printed as well. I'm also planning to put it…
