Speaking of which, without wanting to go too much OT here, what's the average poly count for a weapon on this gen's games? Like Crysis and UT3? (On screen weapons, not level items or enemies weapons) Just asking, cos damn, 11k sounds alot to me!
I believe I am finished. Three and a half days work of high poly model. Having someone look at my model tonight in detail to check out all my geometry. Im pretty proud to call this my second prop item too. :)
for max when I did use it, i'd say the whole workflow pissed me off. with maya when I used it I found it overly complicated some things. somethings were fine, but other items were overly complicated and was easy to get confused.
I wouldn't make the items as individual assets at all. Everything should be grouped together into larger assets. And instead of having a new mesh for each product consider using texture variants or even just tints in the shader. It's then just a case of keeping the polycount within limits on those assets.
Hello people, so I'm running some light baking tests for my project. It seems that I run into some problem. A black square texture is appearing after the bake in some of the objects on the scene. I have reflection probes and light probes in the scene, also I have loads of items laying around. Any idea?
Do you guy bake it as one grouped mesh? I am using xNormals. When I use it, I bake out each item separately. Boots. Hat. Clothes. Skin. But I was wondering, if there was a better way? Do you bake 1 whole low poly character with a whole high poly version?
Hi all, This is my first post here on polycount and would love to participate to this contest. I've never used this program in my pipeline and i would try it. And i've never used this item in real life. So before start i will look some videos on youtube just to see how it is made and hot it work.
Hey all, In spirit of Halloween I wanted to share an environment I am working on for a personal project. It is a medieval city set during an outbreak of the plague. Lighting needs work and I am moving on to add more props and detail the areas more, as well as remove placeholder items. Any feedback or opinions are…
