Do what Dustin said, if all fails, select Element, select the Mesh, detach it, delete the 'empty' null mesh and keep the detached one. -

with that base you can also select a horizontal edge > loop > ring > straighten horizontally, then select an vertical edge > loop > ring > straighten vertically -

I just select one of the edges and press Zoom Extents Selected (Z by default). That resets the clipping planes for the Perspective view, should solve it. -

Press 'B'. Maybe you have it toggled off. Otherwise, try clicking and dragging with nothing selected. That should select and move the builder brush. -

With the low poly selected go down the stack to element mode and hide all, then with it still selected go back up to the projection modifier and bake. -

select material nodes, rclick in void, @ bottom you can select "Comment" the C hotkey was changed, its odd, but its still available. -

+1 for Ndo. OP, why are you obsessed with geo floaters for text? The end result is essentially the same. And what do you mean by 'if I could edit several maps at the same time' ? Don't know if you have access to Zbrush but this could be done with polygrouping/creasing/dynamesh combos. Also, Fusion 360 would be great for… -

Alright, I have managed to make quick normal maps that only softens hard edges without creating high polys. It is not that hard actually. There is no need for curvature map information.
