Hey guys, long-time lurker, first(ish) time poster. Working on some weapons for a Lovecraftian-themed 3rd-person mod a friend is trying to start up. It's my first real experience with hard-surface modeling, and the first time I've tried to get deep into normal-mapping. These are all still WIP, but all crits are…
My first post here on polycount. I've been checking these forums reguraly for a while tho. I'm making this next-gen weapon for a school project. I picked the SR-2m Veresk because of its rather strange shape, and because I've never seen it used in any games or mods. It looks like it's a pretty obscure weapon, because…
Hey guys. First post in P&P! Anyway, this is my first real attempt at a larger weapon, and I would like to hear some feedback before I proceed with a low poly and baking. Any additional details I should add? I don't know anything about real life guns so if anything sticks out as weird just give me a shout. The weapon is…
hey I was looking at the game art comp over at CGchat, and thought I might give it a try I doubt Ill have time to finish by the deadline but I needed the practice anyways my sexy chick is Mitsuko Souma female student # 11 from the novel "Battle Royal" I kinda exagerated her Sicle_sp?_ a lil bit to fit the contest…
Nice progress so far! Heres Some feedback: First of all i would use a glossier material to present normal maps so we can see the shading better and a different background, you normally want to add some contrast with the background so the weapon pops out a bit more, at the moment they are both(background and weapon) very…
I am giving this bad boy one last chance after some feedback from the workshop voters. Keeping a bit safer with the new wings, keeping a similar silhouette as the original wings but with element from the torso to make the whole set go in the same style. And the weapon have more contrast with the metal parts. But yeah it…
Update #21 (I think)! I hope everyone had a really great day. Shabbat came to a close a few hours ago and I was able to break away from my family for a few to upload. All I have left to do is her hands and her weapon! I am super excited about how she came out. I'm hoping to be fully finished by Tuesday evening so that I…
Don't want to be rude or something, but I think you are trying to dogde the criticisms that Gazu have said. He is talking about material definition, not the accuracy of the model. Patrick Sutton did a great job with this AK. Nice variation with spec/gloss Grease on the body, difference in the wood between worn and pristine…
The environments are great, but I would re-consider the hand painted weapons. I can tell that you know how to hand paint but frankly the simplistic design isn't doing them any justice and your environments are just so much better. I would drop them entirely, but if you fancy doing weapons then you could tackle something…
I'm not saying it's bad in general. I'm just saying that I wouldn't improve very well as an artist if I'm spending a huge chunk of my time just creating weapons and armor. And not just that, but ones which match the style of pre-existing characters. That would be the issue with the portfolio as well; if 90% of my work is…
