It doesn't matter which app you learn in the beginning. All the fundamentals will transfer over seamlessly if you decide to move to another app. I started in blender, moved to max, moved to maya, then back to blender for building DOTA items.
You can however still submit items to the Team Fortress Workshop that have a chance to make it into the game. You'll find the Polycount thread with all the information you could possibly need: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=69164
Hi Onizuka. There are lots of video tutorials on YouTube on how to use 3D Ripper DX which is compatible with the Assassin's Creed PC version of the game to extract the models. That's how I first learned how to mod game items for fun.
Here is another item started for this scene. I actually started this one first, but have been wrestling with it off and on for a week. It is a rusted out shell of a car. reference Still a ways to go on this before I really go hi-res on it.
Had some free time this weekend and added some more items such as a mattress, cardboard box, some old dismantled beds and a wall plug! Trying to get as close as possible to the reference. Will update more as soon as more work is done!
re: beta You should have an invite by now. Let me know if you didn't. re: gamma problem Go ahead and log it: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=5600504&linkID=9241177
Hi all! I decided to make items for Dota 2, I`m familiar with 3DS max, however I`m still newbie. Here is my first try, which is still in progress. Any opinion or good advice is welcome :) . Sry for my bad english. Have a nice day!
I have just started learning to make items for DOTA2 and would appreciate any feedback. I am very new to 3d modelling (Maya) and only recently started using Photoshop, but have been an non digital artist my whole life. One Man Army Set :
My friend made the initial design and I've begun to model it. I'm currently finishing up refinement on the basic model, soon to move into sculpting and texturing. Currently it only has flat color textures. Not my first item submitted to the workshop, but this is my first time posting WIPs on Polycount.
Welcome to my workshop hut, as of this day, I've already 9 items in the workshop, none accepted yet and learning and doing everyday. This thread might be very slow since my internet connection is very limited (3rd world country in a nutshell). Alas, welcome anyway! Have a nice stay!
