Hey there, So about 2 months ago my viewport in max just started acting all wonky and since I use it pretty much every day for work, I didn't have the time to look into the cause. After playing around for a few minutes I realized it was only happening in D3D mode so I reverted and switched over to Open GL and it fixed the…
thanks everyone! here's a quick test i did with a shitty auto generated low poly/uvs. i was trying to do an oil paint type look by using a rough brush in 3dcoat that puts down normal map depth as i paint the diff to make it look like thick brush strokes. didn't exactly turn out like i hoped, but shows some promise. i did a…
an animation from darksiders i did. I have been wanting to post up my work but there are 2 major problems.. 1. all of my animations have somehow become dated...i have no clue where time has gone. I just realized it took 4 years to make darksiders... wow! 2. these animation do not represent me anymore. How ever i do want to…
I'm curious how many people's first jobs involved them relocating vs getting hired locally? I'm aware mobility is something you must expect working in the industry, so I'm not afraid of that. But what if your first job offer is literally on the other half of the country? Did you still do it and or received any assistance…
Thank you for the detailed feedback @Peyd3d, I really appreciate the time you took to write this and even provide the paintover. It’s very helpful. =) You’re absolutely right about studying reference and thinking more about how assets are actually constructed. The point about assets reading as single pieces is something I…
Hey look at all that information. Aint you guys just swell :) Anuxinamoon: How many years experience did you have when you got that job at Trion? And you did it without a degree? That's what I was hoping to hear! Was Trion your first choice, or did you guys apply at several places? Oh, and when you say documented work…
When I import the fbx I don't see any mesh, tried with Toolbag and Blender. Does importing work for you @Kartraid ? Did you triangulate the model before baking?
@Fabi_G Thank you! As for textures, I'm probably going to stick to a relatively realistic style. I'll be using Substance Painter and create the base rusted/copper-looking material and then focus on the canisters and the light. I won't be doing hi-to-low poly, I'm keeping this fairly mid-poly and will be using Normal decals…

This is one of my uni 2nd year character assignments done in 5 weeks, this character is game ready rigged and weighted ready to go straight into engine, the poly count in triangles total in 90k a bit high but as a learning curb is great for me this count is the total for everything plus the rock. I had so much fun, it is…
