Anyone actually buy HL2 not through Steam?
I keep getting this error: "Error 1334: The file 'hl2.ico1' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'hl24.cab'. Yhis could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package." I've tried both drives and 2 different copies of the game. -

Correct. And most of the higher clocked dimms have a higher latency... Ahh and please don´t buy "gaming"-ram. Just because they have fancy coolers they are not faster and with normal 1333 or 1600 ram you don´t need a cooler if your case has 1 or 2 fans. -

I think the biggest problem here is that you're working with your neighbor. These sorts of things are supposed to be done by groups where no two members live in the same time zones, preferably not even on the same continent, and know only each other's virtually untypable and certainly unpronouncable 133t online nickname. -

Was looking at picking this up: - Sandy Bridge i5 2300 (2.8ghz, 3.1ghz boost) - Gigabyte GA-H67A-UD3H - 8GB OCZ DDR3 1333 My current system really dies after about 2-3hrs of Max+Zbrush+Photoshop use at home. The extra memory should help a lot, not to mention the 4 cores. -

renderhjs, currently its sitting at 1332 tris. going for ds spec (around 2000 tris total) so will need to optimize when done i would love to see this as a flash game :) indecom, i made a new road texture. i decided to do it all in sort of the style of sega am2's games. -

Than gauss. Much appreciated. ATM ive had to stop working on ratman,and do a high poly character for an assignment. Ive done like 4 so far. Its so hard to define the jaw line on people so that they dont look really fat. P.S - gauss: 2 more posts and your post count will be "1337" -

Thanks Pyro, I'll try that. Notman: I don't use linux (yet - not got into it). If all else fails, I'll keep the drive and try it again once I'm 'Linux 1337'. [edit] The drive comes up as 'unreadable' in the disk management panel. I only have 'properties' and 'help' in the right-click menu. I guess it's borked.
