I just bought 3dsmax15, the Relax tool is broken?
I'm really confused by the changes to the UV Relax tool, i used it a lot in the 2011 version and I got really good at using it to get nice results. Now in 2015 it's behavior doesn't make any sense to me, it seems to only destroy the selected UVs regardless of settings/mode -

Couldn't replicate it, tried both 2011 & 2012 fbx with same UDK build. Can only guess you have something funky going on with a mesh/material. Maybe try working backwards, use 2 mat id's see if it works add another, so on and so forth until it breaks. -

That's a screenshot from a 2010 edition, but the 2011 builds I've worked with had a big blue unrealEd button in the top right. Don't tell me they changed it again ughh..... I'm not gonna go download 1.7Gb of toolkit to find a button, nor can I find a screenshot of the newer version sorry. -

I couldnt figure it out straight away, I assumed it was something to do with islands being cut out and joining together, the top left shape kind of resembles the shape of great britain (in a totally abstract and awkward way). The other 3 chunks dont really resemble anything though. So I googled it, it actually says "2012".… -

You may think about how many different peaces of rubble you really need and only use these as particles instances. Maybe even merging and makeing a convex hull and bake the texture to that "one-filled-piece-of-rubble". Or simply do a shrinkwrap of a grid on top of the particle simulation. Ohh.. and someone did this already… -
Re: 3ds Max: edge extrude with local pivot
That seemed to be broken for me as well in 2014. My fix was to just extrude it a very small amount in world space, then I was able to use local to extend it out further...Crappy for sure. I also ran into issues with my Gizmo becoming "distorted". Local extrude is working as intended in Max 2015, though!
