Hey guys I am working on a character that has a goatee and was wondering if it is justifiable to have the fur tiles on their own texture sheet. Yeah it is another texture call... but for straight portfolio work? Guess I just kinda wanted the fidelity in the hair rather than crunching the hair down to mush in the unwrap...…
Hey guys I had a question. I've been trying to improve my complexity with the type of character models I make. I use a box/poly modeling process where I'm sure many of you know making small details ends up complicating the topology. Now I know I could go export the base model into a sculpting program and add the details…
when you say .tga loading do you mean best guess converting to .dds on load? Not that it matters really, what you discribe sounds like the best way. When I worked on id tech I didn't have to save a dds texture once but at my current company I have to save dds textures and the common problem is someones lost the source PSD…
Hi, I wanted to push my skills in texturing and I wanted to know how her dress could get improved? my main goal is to put as much details into the dress as I can (which is not much yet as you can see) shameless question; are there some workarounds for creating Textures of detailed Clothes?
Pretty noobish question, I just can't figure out what I'm missing. I'll texture an object that I made in maya in mudbox, and when I bring the texture I made back into maya its transparent. Why is this? Image in mudbox: http://imgur.com/YVdNhF8 Image in maya:http://imgur.com/c8GJ0YO Please Help!

most assets still require unique texturing as always, not tiling. tiling textures all over this LAV won't produce the scrapes, mud, paint weathering, iconography, and other details that will make it feel real. generally for something like this you'll have some material value index to check out to start your texture off…
A soon to be released script for 3ds max. It allows you to send the view of a model in you favorite painting application to paint your textures then project it back on your model. You have the benefit of working in your familiar painting environment with your favorite brushes at the speed you are used to. Don't have to…
When i was learning about texel density for some reason i was trying to ignore what people where saying, that if you will use an unique texture for a model, the chances of getting it to fill all the texture and having somewhat the texel density that you need is pretty low. You could mirror pieces, or use more than one…
