Thanks for the reply. I guess sculpting is still effective when it comes to organic modeling. It is good to hear such an opinion. But I'm not good at polycon modeling, even for things like Pokemon, so I don't think it's good that I just don't practice enough.
Hello everyone it's my first post. I need feedback for my portfolio. I want to find a job as 3d artist in game industry but idk how good/bad my portfolio, is it enough to start looking for first work (and where, if it possible) or i need to more practice? Thanks everyone for you answer!…
Hello, Thanks for your Time: I'm looking for a Flexible strong Figure Drawing Mentor with an eagerness for teaching material at a down to earth understandable pace. I've been practicing with art for a long time now but I haven't had much luck finding a consistent mentor for this specifically, and am Self Taught rather than…
Modeled from concept art or own design? EDIT: As an aside - back in the day, had attained experience in a military context handling/operating various weapon systems so from my perspective your example, has disproportionate elements that when placed in a real world setting, would practically in terms of basic ergonomics be…
This makes sense in practice. While I can only understand the most basic stuff about rigging, I am not exactly the best when it requires solving problems that appear during the rigging process. Oh well, I am still yet to graduate and have much to learn. Thanks!

Keep practising, I can see all you need is practise as you have the techniques pretty much down. Practise is annoying though:poly124: chris
Hey Polycount. I have been researching this topic for a while now, and I know that there are normally multiple ways to go about it. The context is that I'm practicing my modelling and texturing for non-stylized contemporary architecture assets, meant for a hypothetical fps game that has large open urban areas. By…
Thank you for the feedback, I went ahead and starting practicing what you said above. Started redoing some props in the next project. https://polycount.com/discussion/234131/retros-government-office#latest
WIP "Warrior" is a modeling practice aimed at enhancing my hard surface skills in creating tactical clothing and gear, as well as improving my texturing abilities. I thoroughly enjoyed modeling this realistic 3D character and learned a great deal throughout the process, particularly while using Substance 3D Painter.…
Look into edge decals and distance field material blending. Right now the meshes have pretty sharp edges and sharp (i.e. no) blending between adjacent surfaces. Maybe look into edge damage or at least chamfer some edges here and there. Also, even though poly counts (!) are not an issue anymore its still a good practice to…
