It is looking pretty nice, I would have liked to see more color though. It still is missing that little bit of flavor in the textures. Maybe some spray paint decals that construction worker would use. Overall though it is a really nice piece of work.
Ah, well then have you tried just using a decal to fake it? The only other thing I can think of at the moment would be to use a colored mask and project it with a point light, but I think CE3 only allows b&w masks for lights.
The new tweaks are gorgeous! Don't know if you wanna take it in that direction, but I would suggest some vert-painted or decal stains on the large brick surfaces to break them up a little. You know, some water stains, bird poop etc
So I have been messing with the lighting a bit, I think it looks better? The floor decals help a lot I think? This is due in tomorrow as a uni deadline but there is still time to fix stuffs! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5K9EcLJ88YE&feature=youtu.be
Thanks so much guys, I'll be implementing these changes soon. Katori, I did a quick test of the decal blending effect and it looks fantastic. Can't believe I didn't know about this. It makes the scene look so much better. Thank you!
This is awesome. :) I've been meaning to model a squirtle for a long time. I always get caught up on the eyes of anime style creatures though. How'd you do yours? Are they a seperate decal or are have you painted them straight onto the texture sheet?
Thanks for the advice man! How's this: As for the text decals, I've been trying to shove them in, but since I am cramping the entire model into a single 2K texture, the quality of the text was rubbish. Any idea how to go about the logos? Perhaps a separate texture?
Yeah all good points. In this case all pillars had individual details, so cloning wasn't an option. On the other hand, the decal idea is pretty good. That could have worked for this. Ok! I think get it now, I appreciate your help with this! :)
Okay, so here is robot update part deux. I think I have his design about where I want it. Colors/decals might change at some point, but this'll work for now. Thanks for all the feedback, fellahs. It's helping the process. :)
The splatters can be placed on later with decals. You should also make sure you have your hard/soft polys, or smoothing groups setup properly to give hard edges the right look. This is especially important if you're not going to be using a normal map.
