If you're a VFX artist/animator then yes, I agree, that a reel is needed. But as others said, a nicely layed-out portfolio is much better because then who ever is viewing your site doesnt have to sit through the whole thing. Well, typically the view distance underwater is very low and you'll just use whatever fog feature is the game engine. Meshes can be culled when they are outside of the view distance, so you might not actually need LODs for underwater depending on your specific needs and use case. You should view your normal map in a game engine instead. Unity 5, Unreal Engine 4 or Marmoset Toolbag 3 etc. That error appears because you're viewing your normal map in 3DS Max, and that's a bad idea.
