I ended up doing 2 separate maps for it, one that has all the legs on it and one for the core body - was easier to keep the resolution nice this way. its kind of how they did the in-game cutscene marines in Starcraft 2 : ] -

using decal and custom vertex normal for vehicles?
Can i use custom vertex normal and decal for vehicle for example a tank or a aircraft? i see the tread for the use of decals to add higher details on the model and i read that starcitizen ships use custom vertex normal to add smoothness to the edges. i did try to make a high poly but i having problems adding a lot of edge… -

Nice! I'm digging the aircraft and the ground units, however the ships seem overly dense and "noisy." There aren't any larger shapes to contrast the smaller details. Where you do have large shapes they are crowded by smaller bits on top of them. Otherwise it would be cool to see your wires so we can appreciate the low poly… -
