i´m a starcraft fan since the beginning. truly inspired by enodmis thread i decided to do my own rendition of a baneling. i want it to look a bit like a crab and a bug.

1. Your model might a too high distance from the belly to the ground, the blizzard concept and models suggest it's much more close to the surface.
2. Your green sac could use some more pronounced features and a more "bubbly" surface like the concept art, this would help you get a red thread through the entire model since you have the 6 small bubbly sacs on the front.
3. This is just a personal preference, but I think the leg joints are way to curvy at the moment, I think it would look great if you gave it some hard transistions and armored parts like the front of your leg has.
you are definitely right zpanzer. i should have posted the concept earlier. so late in the process it is hard to change the design. what do you think about the quick design change anyway - its more oriented to the original design.
i hope to achive the "bubbly" look via shader/textur
and this is the lowpoly version (i still have to optimize the mesh) baked normalmaps and ambientocclusion ... rendered in marmoset
Only things I'd consider touching up, is the very solid green butt portion and giving some more variation to the Brownish red exoskeleton / skin portions. However, even that is stretching, cause the texture is really great anyways.
what do you think
Whats the polycount? That mouth looks heavy.
some food for thought: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warning_colouration
changing the cameras fov is changing the feeling of the weight a lot
there is still a lot to do but i think i am calling it final...
a little posing and a beauty shot to do ...
I'm not particularly fond of the side mandible things, including the large upward thrusting tusts.
@all thanks for the feedback
i think those "side mandible things" could do very well especially when they are animated
i want to pose this guy but i didnt came up with something interesting.
any ideas?
