Hey Texelion, you are right, PBR is mostly used in games - not rendering... I hadn't really thought about that simple fact, so I will start looking more into mental ray shaders. I was making some progress with Mila shaders the other day, so I'll continue along that route! -

Hey @Joao Sapiro We don't have specific plans for these yet but both are on our todo list to investigate for future updates. We had to do a big restructure for the baker to get it working with the new ray-tracing engine, and lost the ability to do lighting bakes in the process. From the screenshot provided it looks like either the meshs weren't properly aligned when the bake was done, or the bake cage was too large / rays traveled too far. I don't use Maya these days, but If you post the file this is happening with it'd be easier for people to give you more specific advise. -

As above, also you may be better off down-scaling a larger map than anti-aliasing one. Trust me, 1000+ samples takes donkeys years to render... Could turn off back-face rays or whatever it's called, although you probably won't notice much of a speed difference. -

I get the error after I plug in the outputs of the shaders into the color sections of the blend node.. and yes the renderer is set to V-Ray (I think I may have click I different node there) I'm trying out the VRayBlend Material and It's seems to be somewhat working, still not sure yet though. -

hi Rebb, yes. i pretty much played around with everything! the normal map and shader does work...just not very well. i think it may be the fact that i didn't use mental ray. but keep 'em coming, guys. i'm still up for new ideas... thanks Rebb jase -

Hi there. You've stumbled upon gamma correction and linear workflow. To keep it short, try this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47qVn4uv3bI Since you're a beginner and this is a very common issue allow me to suggest googling "linear workflow maya mental ray" and try to understand why that stuff happens. It will pay off. -

best pic of the day, i went with a low contrast, something i like to do with landscapes, i could push it alot harder, make those rays come out really strong, will give it a try by cutting the sky lose from the trees, prevent it from getting too dark/ contrast rich
