apply an edit mesh modifier and then export as an obj, should fix the issue. i've had it a few times, i can never replicate it but i know that fixes it for me.
Order of operations. export low fbx., then project with max, make the projection an exported mesh obj. if you do this out of order you'll get the error. Hope that helps
Yup. Xnormal has an option to bake polypaint along with the other maps. The highpoly obj object supports polypaint so it wont need UVs, just the low poly.
I've had this mainly on ao and thickness, default settings, obj files. Gave up and baked in designer instead. Hp mesh was at 1.5m, lowpoly at 37k, baked at 4k.
export all meshes as an .obj file in max, then import it into zbrush. Once in you have the first tool in under the subtool pallet down at the bottom append the remaining subtools.

Well, if current-day Max's OBJ import window still looks like this - then make sure to check the 'Shapes/Lines' option under 'Geometry'. That should do the trick.
