Oh by the way, I should also probably mention the following as it is a bit of a personal journey : a few years ago (way before the emergence of slop machines like ChatGPT and Midjourney), developments in the field of machine learning made me daydream about the possible ways of, for instance, sketching a rough shape and…

First off, total amateur animator/rigger. The question I have is why exactly can't you apply a multi-res modifier to a mesh with shape keys? I have a single human mesh on a very simple rig. Currently 5500 tris. I've created a fat shape key using sculpting prior to cutting the mesh apart so that I can make multiple meshes…
Hello everyone! I would like to announce that we’ve finally completed our final year project film! I haven’t updated this thread in a while since we were fully focused on production and polishing for submission, but I wanted to share the final result along with some behind-the-scenes progress. Huge thanks to everyone…
Hi there again :) I think there are two aspects to this really. First the purely technical side - as in, what is 100% required to get perfectly mathematically accurate results. This includes making sure that everything uses Mikkt, that all the triangle edges are set, and so on. It's great that this thread is going over…
Exactly Jordan N, notice the characters have a sort of 3d look in the movie. Klaus animators have just taken it one step further with motion vectors to add textures to the drawings. They are using nuke for the color shading. I think the normal mapping is what they are taking care with to make sure it's very detailed and…
One thing I think you should look out for, and which will improve your stuff a lot, is your colour-use in shading. You seem to shade things with white and black, ie. just darker and lighter versions of the colour of the surface you're shading. That looks very bad, and generally makes things look flat. Have you read through…
oh sorry there is one mistake, you have to invert the surface normal as written in the text i interpreted 3 as the multiply of the SSS Color, to colorize the SSS effekt and then just add that result to the "SSS part 2" if you have that plug it into custom lighting, not diffuse and turn the shader to use custom lighting…
Hey guys. Been banging my head against this wall for a few days now. Maybe some of you could share some insight on what I'm doing wrong. I'll start off by saying, yes, i know its rather unnoticeable, and really doesn't matter. But I took a lot of time to get the cleanest normal bake i could, and have very very few visible…
