Agreed about the palisade, and it does look fun. I especially like the first shot. As for the lighting and color scheme, something a bit more pastel with less harsh shadows might work well. And maybe some color variations for the trees. I'm not sure how much you still want to change, and this, too, is more about logic, but… -
