We all bitch about Max but do you ever actually send in these requests to Autodesk? Or do we expect them to just troll forums and hope for improvement suggestions? Autodesks majority of funds do NOT come from 3D model applications they own like Max and/or Maya, they come from their industry tools like CAD. And with our…
This is a great tutorial on normal map baking. It goes over how to do an exploded bake. Its for 3ds max but the exploded bake process should be similar in other 3d software. http://cg.tutsplus.com/tutorials/autodesk-3d-studio-max/how-to-bake-a-flawless-normal-map-in-3ds-max/
Hello, i have read quite a lot about this issue on net, but i have few questions i didnt find the answer to. The main advantages for using 32 bit displacement maps over 16 bit is: 1) The absence of "terrace" effects (artifacts) in 32 bit 2) And the ability to push the mesh even down, not just up (as 16 bit displacement map…
I want to use my UVW map in my Modifier list but when I do it only shows Planar Cylindrical + cap Spherical and Box Everything else is grayed out how do I get it all turned back on Thanks so much for the help
problem: for max 7, in the uv unwrap edit window, when i change the bitmap dimension for the "projection box", the change is not displayed. it appears to be a bug with max 7, i've checked three machines with the same results. does everyone else that has max 7 have this problem? anyone know how to fix this problem?
Is this really a comparison? 3ds max costs 3.6k USD, whilst Blender is free. Moving to 3ds max will not make let you create better items than Blender would - that's all down to your skill and experience. In fact if you're used to Blender moving to 3ds max is going to be painful, as is the case when transitioning to any new…
I don't think Maya has a way of spinning invisible triangles, and it's not that Maya wrongly displays them, its just that it might use a different algorithm. As for bakers being synced, that is mainly to do with normal maps. Couple years back different game engines and programs calculated the tangent basis for their normal…
