I love the FM style Sith, very cool indeed! Not sure that the blur of the lightsaber really communicates the glow effect. I think it might be better with lighting-type arcs around it.
There should be a way to convert your student license to a pro license for a significant discount, ~$1500 IIRC. It used to be available a few years ago not sure about now, check with some resellers.
cool work dude. nice eyes, although i think the iris/ pupil would be the only part with that kind of reflection. Not sure if u could slightly mask the white part of the eye?
It's real-time though, changing with time. Not a static lightmap. IIRC, the soldiers cast shadows on everything. But I could be wrong. I'll check again when I get home tonight.
I plan on eventually getting he full armour done, but so far, I've gotten the helmet done. I won't be working on the rest of the suit until I'm done with the irl model of the helmet. Got a lot of work ahead. :)
