I want to remove those edges along with their vertexes but It only deletes the edges and some of the vertexes then selects seemingly random edges afterwards. This has never happened, I have deleted by history and restarted numerous times.
[EDIT]I figured it out, but left the post for humor... Solution at end of post:[/EDIT] Hi all. This morning I started up Maya, made a cylinder used F10 to get into edge select mode, tried to grab an edge but noticed that all of a sudden Maya is behaving strangely. I have pre-selection highlight active and when I hover the…
A mix. Simply using a tiling texture for each mat type would work, but it's low effort and kind of meh looking a lot of the time. For a load of props, unique/atlased RGB masks might be worth considering. So a mix of generic tiling materials, with a mask to blend them with context to the object. an example for metal it…
I've continued to style a bit and finally have converted my model from curves to geometry and optimized all the low-hanging fruit away. As a result it's now edgy in certain places, sitting at 38k prior to any proper manual optimization (my threshold for these hair meshes is 45k for the more complex ones like this one, so…
I really want to like using the crease tool for my sub-div modeling, but sometimes it is challenging to get it right. The right shape of the following image is the base model. the left shape was achieved by using edge loops. The left shape with the edge loops is the look that I'm trying to achieve using creasing, and maybe…
I'm not so sure the Crease Edge Features is only for SubD modeling. It works on a single edge without producing any subdivision to harden it. It looks to me like the effect of creasing an edge produces a hard edge, so the outcome appears to be the same as hardening edges. Just the Quick Selection Sets are more clumsy than…
@Paxwort That was good advice about the materials thanks! I had to play around more with the lighting when I started adding materials. I'm finding it challenging to make the metal look not too dark or too bright and shiny. These are the tiling materials and trim sheet that I'm working on in substance painter. I'm using the…
Hello! I really thank you for answering this question I had. I did what you mentioned as you can see in this screenshot, I hardened the edges with "Mark Sharp" and instead of applying "Shade Smooth" I applied the "Shade auto smooth" (I saw it in a video that talked about hardening the edges). When doing this, the strange…
ah ok. Yea i tried it but i couldnt achieve the result i wanted. Its edgy and not realy smooth little curles. It always feels like it has not enough vertex points to get the smooth curve or the same length. But only thing i can change are the segments i guess and at 50 its limited.
@MattFall great scene! It realy gives me that World of Warcraft feeling. And I kinda like this low poly edgy terrain somehow, maybe because it reminds me even more to the actual game, wich always had a blocky terrain. :D and @Sayanora I love this tutorial! Such an awesome trick. Instantly favorited.
