Tonight I worked on the evolution of the rooftop texture. I want the color palette to turn towards purple-ish tones with contrasts of green overgrowth. A similar treatment will be applied to every texture, allowing your city to evolve visually over time (and possibly decay/force you to repair some of your older structures)
The brown tiling wall/ceiling texture in the original level looks like mausoleum crypt faces, the kind of place where they stack coffins inside a wall, with face plates. You can find all kinds of cool reference if you search for "mausoleum crypt decay" or similar.…
The Dent in the barrel will make the shell get stuck on the barrel and detonate, no fun :P And those metal scratches look more like scorched paint, make them more soft. I would also lower the saturation on the wood, it looks brand new compared to the state of decay seen on the metal. Apart from that, its not bad ;)
Huge improvement! Just having the colored lights add a great deal of interest to the scene. There's still something about it that seems to be flattening everything, I would really bump up the falloff/decay to put some of the areas in deeper shadow. The uniformity of everything still bugs me. And get some lightmaps going…
Well, that honestly could be the progression of google glasses. It's not HD, but you essentially want augmented reality games. As Google glasses evolves, I can see it becoming basically that. No need for Oculus Rift. Why generate a 3D environment, when it already exists? You would just generate decay on the existing…
I think you've gone a bit overboard with the flare of the hips. The concept is for an emaciated male - the hips should be much narrower than the shoulders. The shoulders and rib cage imply someone who was once fit, but has decayed in service to a mad deity. I'd post some reference pics, but I shudder to think what Google…
Love the feeling of this jungle, I agree with m4dcow on color variation and decaying. Whats your plan for the temple back there? Its too "Clean" at the moment with no folliage or plants on it, also i will try to add some leaf floating in the water, its seems to clean with no debris, maybe some small branch of a tree and…
I believe the piece is more about pretty much any eastern block country in late 80s/90s in decay. So not specifically Latvia. Funny enough I am also from Latvia. :) Have to agree with others about the lights being a bit too strong near the windows. But its getting along very nicely!
That's a great point GarageBay9 - the bridge that I referenced is right near where parts of the plant are still active and it's the same rail line that passes by the fuel storage depo. I think it may have still been in use up until a few years ago, so they probably tried to keep the bridge from decaying too much, haha.
I think it's just a little odd how a zombie that looks so rotten and mutilated could have two un-decayed [and relatively clean] eyeballs intact. Otherwise great sculpt. :) I'd recommend taking the asymmetry to the next level by doing something unusual to one either one of the eyeballs. That would make it look more…
