Wow great thread :-B @cturbo I think currently some surfaces have a pretty intense normal map. Some more subtle/micro details might be a better fit for the roughness map, so they reflect differently. For example, currently the parquet floor looks like it has grouts between the different wood panels, I think that's more a…
Hey thanks for the feedback! My main source of refrence was the concept art for the fireplace in Sea of Thieves Link to their art station: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/eGmN3 I agree with all your points I felt as though something was off I think the shape is one of the big factors in which may make it seem weird, I…
I've been searching for months now to help me answer this question, which leads me to believe I'm probably overthinking it, but since it still bugs me, I wanted to ask here. How do you guys make such super clean UV Texture Maps? You guys post these awesome texture files where everything is laid out nicely next to each…
Hi guys! Thought it would be nice to finally get my own sketchbook, after a time of sneaking around in the forums and looking at all these amazing work and feedback. We´ll see how often I´ll post, probably at least weekly. So let´s start this! Right now I´m working on this British Countryside scene, which I´m hoping to get…
Update time- gather 'round! Sorry for the small amount of UI stuff- UDK kept crashing when I tried to Play On PC so I could grab nice high-rez screenshots. I think my PC is dying D: TODO: Rocket, window, rocks, grass and flag textures, as well as finishing up the brick spec and the rocket launcher's support base texture.…
Made a few adjustments including bringing in more green to the scene overall, adjusting the tiling on the brick wall to shrink the brick size down, creating a subtle fog particle system for the foreground, and turned off texture streaming to alleviate the mipmap issue temporarily. I also created a hill set in worldmachine.…
Yay! looks much better. Things that stand out to me: The cobble stone doesn't look like it has a bump at all. I'm not sure why the sides would be brick and the "road" would be stone. The Tunnel needs something other than black. Doors maybe? More of the scene on the other side of the tunnel? The Windows need to be raised…
Sweet stuff! I really like the composition you've got going on here, and all in all its really coming together! Some suggestions I would make: If you're going for a stone brick/tile sort of look for the ground, I would make it more consistent with the stone brick of the building. The styles are too different from each…
I'm missing alot here... you got a focal point, that's good, but there are no shadows wich makes everything look really flat. I have the feeling you're using no bump or normal for anything at al, the candle drops on the skull would look so much better with a bit depth in there same thing with the book pages etc. for the…
@Dave, yeah I wasn't sure about those supports... There were a few discrepancies between different views on the concept and on that one I decided to just leave them out in favor of a more interestingly silhouetted brick formation. I'll take a picture from the other view next update where it's more obvious. With supports…
