Maya 2009Unlimited "Smoothing too smooth"
When I smooth faces to make say a rectangle smoother, it goes from 90* degrees hard edges to like sphere smooth and looks horrible, it oversmooths to the extreme. I was wondering if there was an option to control how much it smooths so I could just round out the corners a bit?? Thank you for reading my thread. -

Its not as easy as that. Game Design is about leading players to an intended aesthetic. Everything that is done affects how the player plays percieves and enjoys the game. Ironically I used to actually be the life model for those classes a few years ago at uni before I ever got interested in 3d modeling partly to see if I, so to speak, had the balls (and it paid £8 an hour too!), would recommend it wasn't as bad as I thought it was but anyway... I haven't really posted any of my work up… -
compositing fog pass vray
is there a proper way to render and composite the environment fog pass separately with maya (I guess any other software would be the same) and vray? what I do is, I render a version of my scene with the flag "affect camera rays" set to off so they fog isn't visible, then assign a material override so everything is black… -

I feel like you can push the textures a bit more, like it could use more roughness variation break up the surface. You should also play around with the blending modes on your layers too, especially when it comes with roughness and maybe even colors too. That plastic grip could use one or two layers of white noise to make… -

The fingers are a bit too slender for an orc's hands, if you check out some references online you'd see that they are far thicker and larger than what you have in the model.
