My longest post ever, incoming! As some people might have seen I was running a five day marathon of making one mech per day, and livestreaming for 8 hours. I wrapped it up two days ago, and thought I would post my thoughts about it here on polycount aswell :) I have been meaning to implement lots of changes to my workflow…
Starting a new thread which is to focus on my 3D pipeline on my original character, Mecha Malory, aka 'Servo Vixen'. Part of a larger universe. So I have had an idea for her for a few years, I finally finished her and entered her into last year's Art War 2017 on Cubebrush.co. Here is my concept: Then I took Genesis V1, and…
okidoki Thanks for interesting links but still sounds like a toy not very relevant to actual game art production. Same as Metaballs. Rather an interesting toy. I am for example still waiting when Designer would get any convenient manual touching/finishing tools or otherwize Painter get something like node based level of a…
Nice work, got a minor crit for ya. The guns seem too repeated, the geometry is just tiled on itself a bit too much. Would be nice to see unique detail added to the guns to match the rest of the mechs.
Hello everyone I decided on following another artist's design for this project. I'm making a mech from a comic called Devolution. Here is the concept for the mech by the Puppeteer Lee; http://cghub.com/images/view/74043/ I'm also making a pilot and I decided to do a female character this time. The mech type is called…
Hey guys, working on this for a portfolio piece for one of my university modules. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thankyou :) . Research A fair amount of the design will be based off of the Rusviet Unit, which thankfully someone has created a model/sculpt of for the Scythe board game. I will however be…
Hi, I'm attempting to texture a mech but am not sure if what I'm doing is a good way to do it.The model was made in Sketchup so it's topographically "weird", I'm using 3dsmax to unwrap it and planning on using Substance Painter to make a set of material masks with Ue4 being the target renderer. I've never made a "proper"…
Nice work! Mech is looking pretty awesome although I suggest you to make the edges more smoother that Teodar32 mentioned above. Your composition definitely need to be improved. Right now it's looking very bland and uninteresting. There is no story in this. It is just standing in middle of the ground like it's clueless what…
I made some stronger legs for the mech. These are just the basis structure without too much detail. I will be adding more detail later. I also decided to reinforce the control room and give it a submarine look instead. [ame] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDFTHp8YXJ8[/ame]
Even in space, a mech should be standing on something - a moon, an asteroid, a ship hull - otherwise there isn't much point to having legs... The white lights also seem to exist only to provide Michael Bay-style lighting (i.e. superfluous lens flares). The ones on the arms seem especially unnecessary.
