Agree this looks pretty good so far. What are the curved spikes on the beach? The torii gate is oddly placed, for better placement I would suggest reading more about the symbolism behind these gates. Some of your props are placed alone, which creates an uncomfortable feeling. Probably not what you intended. We have an Art…
Yep, that's reasonable, thanks for the input! Sculpt is still WIP but I've wanted to do first baking and see how it looks with normal maps. Some baking errors here and there, will fix them on the upcoming days, check out sketchfab: https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/test-71f95bc0d32c4751a6c57446d17bb82e
I use artstation to post all my artwork, I had Pro last year but I found it wasn't worth the money. Now they are adding all these new features like blogging and a marketplace and will soon raise the price. I am currently looking for work and hope to soon have some models and prints to sell. Should I pay for pro now before…
@poopipe MR was my first physical renderer. I started using it just before A&D material, when you had to cobble the materials together from shaders. It was quite the experience coming from legacy pre-linear workflow scanline rendering where you had to actually plug a raytrace map into the material to get reflections. :)…
Moving on into 2019! Welcome to the next voting thread for the year - May and June 2019 ~ To clarify, this thread will be replaced by the official WIP / Challenge thread on Wednesday, May 1st, once the vote count is in and the concepts have been selected. Please wait to post your work there. Below I've selected a few…
this is a standard at some workplaces. crunch in some form will be a part of the vast majority of game jobs. excessive crunch will be a part of jobs with poor managers. where i work now i've been here a year and have had no forced crunches. I have put in extra hours myself when i've felt i've fell behind on a project. but…
Perna: Steam or no, What you said was that current gen pipelines are much faster. I want to know why - it could valuable information... and I'm here to learn. But fair enough if you cant be bothered. Because I cant speak for anyone else I can only take a stab at how long he actually spent on the texture ( oldschoolers feel…
I made a little trim and decal sheet, nothing crazy. I more wanted to test that they were compatible with my layered material system. I also quickly modelled a side table and a wall mounted monitor. I was given some good advice about the RGB and ID masks (ID mask can be way lower res and also the RGB masks can be lower res…
it comes down to time saving imo. Why model the same tables, chairs etc, loosing production time that could be better used for other assets\optimization, when theres a pack that fits the art direction and is well made ? Why model the same rocks\cliffs you see everywhere from scratch ? If you have time\budget then go for it…
