So this shape has 2 separate meshes in its hi-poly form. There is a prominent seam in the hi-poly that is created with 2 meshes that are next to each other. For the lowpoly, I tried to make a contiguous mesh. But that screwed up the seam. here's the what the hi-poly looks like. it is made up of 1 large and 1 small mesh:…
Plan is a good one and high resolution at 4k for a hero portfolio piece I'd want to squeeze in every pixel could possibly grab thereby hopefully capture the attention of eyeballs that actually matter which typically, at a glance what you've created is worth their time continuing too scroll through a detailed breakdown how…
Subdivision sketch: Charging handle. A quick look at a shape first approach to modeling something with complex compound curves. Start by blocking out the overall volume of the part and use that mesh to figure out a basic loop routing pattern for the rest of the forms. Continue developing the block out by outlining the…
Never watched the handplane video. Always figured it was directions on how to use handplane itself. Will give it a gander. So the final conclusion is, no I do not need to break if a continuous smooth surface like a reflected part on itself or say a cylinders side break. There must be something else wrong then. Will post in…
Not sure why you'd need this. But you can select an element first (for continuity), hide unselected, then use select by SG, select your smoothing group, and voila.

If it did control and generate things every frame at the geometry level that would be impressive from a technical standpoint. However similar questions come to mind as any other art: how do you keep it consistent and prevent it…
