If I edit an OBJ after importing it into another scene, the model becomes oddly deformed. The smoothing groups make appear that way at least. What am I doing wrong? Perhaps I should uncheck optimize normals? Does it have something to do with the precision value at 4?
Hey everyone, when exporting my grenade with Maya as an OBJ file, the grenade is not in the right position. The embossing (red) should be on the side, but when exporting the grenade is turned by 90 degrees and laying on the grid.. hope you can help me.. greets
When I applied these modifiers, exported as obj (selecting also triangulate faces) and imported the model in Zbrush, the mesh is destroyed. I don't know how to fix it :(

Hello So basically iam a maya user and my client needs the output in 3dsmax scene file with some materials applied and also the smoothing groups. So i applied the Soften/Harden edges in maya and exported the file in format OBJ to 3dsmax. But in max unless i apply the modifier "Edit Normals" the normals aren't looking fine.…
so...i need to import something to maya to export into another format , but maya wont read the smoothing groups of the .obj im exporting from max ( yes i check the export smoothing groups box ) so anyone know a way ( besides manually detaching each face :P ) ?
