I suppose you could always ask him personally, but I think he tends to bake the normal map out and then handpaints everything else in photoshop (such as the case for this).
Hey there, we've been on a kick with handpainted stuff this past few months and I'd love to keep that trend going.. Any hint at the kind of triangle limits we'd be working with?
they did a do-over some time ago, where they moved over from handpainted "crazybumped" units, to actual highpoly model baked content. hence left & right.

Hi guys! Just wanted to make a reproduction of a shield I saw on Diablo Reaper of Souls ;) Handpainted texture is something new and challenging for me so I try to do my best! :) The colormap is done at 70%.
Krita is quite handy when it comes to handpainted tileable textures. There is mode where you can paint over the texture borders and it will continue on the other side of the texture. (wrap around mode)
oooooo .... ssoooo pretty ^_^ but seriously, I love it. Gonna try and do some stylised handpainted stuff myself ... once I've got some realistic stuff in my portfolio that is =P
And so if i understand the both sides of bridge are terrain and the pridge pure 3D geometry. same thing under bridge?? Another terrain everything full of handpainted textures thats thats it?
Instead of the handpainted technique, I decided to use his actual face on top for added detail, seems to have done the trick quite nicely Now with Eyes... I hate eyes
