I know its nice to tweak stuff afterwards but I always first model and then unwrap things, I don't shade or do other stuff in between. I mean if you want to tweak stuff afterwards you could still use the internal stuff of Maya ;) Maybe accept that the build in Unwrap tools are from 10 years ago and that many great apps…
