Note: I called this tank steampunk, but wasn't thinking steampunk when I designed it. Sorry for the mistake, it should maybe be called steam powered, or steam era. started work on a tank, crits and comments welcome. thanks!
Oh yea that's awesome! A lot more tanks. http://forum.japantoday.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=539795&p=552980 Being a Metal Slug and Advance Wars fan the Renault Light Tank is pretty cool too. http://neatorama.cachefly.net/images/2008-02/renault-ft-17-tank.jpg
work has started on the low poly model. I added a subtle specular map...maybe too subtle? I still need to make a detail pass and adjust the contrast. Currently I find part of the tank too dark. warning : you need the unity player, and the file is 1mb. http://www.shaunlarkin.net/unity/tank/tank.html
hey man the tank is looking great in the latest shot, and good eye on the new smokestacks they are 10x better than the other ones. One thing i see that kinda confuses me and makes me think you are going toony " ignore this if you are" is the shovel and the hammer on the side of the tank. if someone were the proper size to…
@bbob : ya, i have a few holes to fill ha! thanks for the spec advice. @shepeiro : i may duplicate the tank a few times on the scene and test different value ranges. thanks for the input.
@shrew81 : That's a good point, I think I became too focused on the top section. I'm going to model the threads over the weekend and play around with the tank proportions. I'll post updates next week. thanks!
@Rhinokey : hehe, ya. I was thinking civ war - ww1 tanks but with a slightly exaggerated proportions . Sorry for the confusion guys. Here are some examples: edit : i changed the ironclad reference image to the USS Monitor. thanks for the feedback
@woogity : hey man, thanks for the reply. Ya, It going to be a toon tank so I warped the proportions in a major way. I think it'll be a little more obvious when i start texturing. I do agree with you on the shovel proportions. It's time for me do a paint over and adjust a few components/proportions.
