you can kinda get around it a by extruding (instead of chamfering) the edge with a height of 0 and then welding the middle edge to one side, you will have to stretch the edge uvs a little bit after but it should make things easier.
Hey, Have a model, it's unwraped, textures, but could use some chamfered edges. Problem in Max is it screws the UVs; does anyone have a plugin, script, or work around method for this aside from manually going in and adding the edge and moving them?
it tends to fuck up the UVs when chamfering a split UV edge, otherwise chamfering an edge in max should not mess with the UV placement(with Preserve UVs on or off). sorry, I'm no help. haha
Yeah, this is true with pretty much any app. Modo is great about always preserving uvs, but if you're doing any sort of operation on an edge of the uv island, say edge bevel, chamfer, remove, your uvs are going to get fucked.
