Have a model, it's unwraped, textures, but could use some chamfered edges. Problem in Max is it screws the UVs; does anyone have a plugin, script, or work around method for this aside from manually going in and adding the edge and moving them?
it tends to fuck up the UVs when chamfering a split UV edge, otherwise chamfering an edge in max should not mess with the UV placement(with Preserve UVs on or off).
stay away from UV borders (I know its easier said than done). if the newly created faces are somewhere inside the UV island it`s fine but when max tries to create some faces outside as well you`ll get strange results. hope that makes sense lol
Yeah, this is true with pretty much any app. Modo is great about always preserving uvs, but if you're doing any sort of operation on an edge of the uv island, say edge bevel, chamfer, remove, your uvs are going to get fucked.
you can kinda get around it a by extruding (instead of chamfering) the edge with a height of 0 and then welding the middle edge to one side, you will have to stretch the edge uvs a little bit after but it should make things easier.
Yeah thats the problem its a bunch of walls so the uv break is usually on the corner with me, but the trick commander keen gave will be pretty useful, just a shame there isn't an easy one step; ah well.
