In the export window, tried this? Triangulate checkbox on the bottom. Auto triangulation in some cases can go bad: Problems like these might pop up, and you need to do it manually. Catch my drift? Good.
When you import fbx into udk it triangulates everything anyways even if the the fbx was quad. You generally triangulate something in a 3d app if you want the geometry to fit in a certain way, like a object-space conversion from Handplane).
