@Tvidotto Thanks dude, I just started texturing and I have been sorting out the skinning for the belt and trying to understand the shader masks. I'm getting there slowly :D Hopefully I will upload an in-game screenshot soon :)
The "top" mask would be the one you'd set to black and paint in 3DO to remove seams, kind of like a clone brush in a sense. :) We can sit down in the Quixel Hangout sometime if you'd like to see this technique in action!
Killing Floor 2 is done with Unreal Engine 3, so you don't need to do anything more, then doing a linear interpolation between your glow color and black, based on a mask texture, and to plug that into the emissive channel.
If your object is plastic you'd have a black metal map no? General rule with dust is that it is dielectric, so black metallic there. You would probably use some kind of grunge mask with say +.05 roughness to simulate the layer.
It looks more stable and a bit faster. However its a little bit different compared to the old dDo. I'm missing the option to edit the masks in dynamask by tangents space map and height map. Is it somehow possible to add those?
Oh, awesome idea. Old-timey plague doctor masks are creepy and great, working them into a character design for LoL is brilliant. I can see it working really well with Viktor's design. Looking forwards to following this one.
Looks great! Great interpretation into 3d. Very true to the concept. The helmet / face mask looks like it's flush with the face though. I think there should be a bit of a lip there so it's more of a helmet and less borg. Welcome to Polyconut!
Quick Video of what I am working on with the topology map based dirt masks. Enjoy :) Still tweaking making sure these make sense and are functional in many different usages. https://vimeo.com/85016170 [vv]85016170[/vv]
Just so everyone knows I am 100% against texture pipelines that require the user to store normal spec diffuse all in one .psd Also storing your spec mask in the alpha channel is a total fail.
Thank you, RockaFella! It's clear to me I don't want a wolf mask, but I completely stole this owl from Chengwei Pan, so I'll be thinking of something else. I'll be exploring the design a little further now.
