WIP 7 Reviewing all the bony landmarks according to this https://www.artistsnetwork.com/art-subjects/portrait-figure/how-to-draw-bodies-lea-colie-wight/ and trying to accentuate planes to make masses not feel flat, assuming that's the the answer. Still haven't swapped the eys yet.
@Wolthera Is it the shading that's making the ground-plane look off, or the actual positions of the hero/monster? And yea, I got the same response about the pose previously. It's something I have to push more towards dynamic poses. Or at least, less rigid "royal portrait" poses.
There's some really good work up here. 'The Goon' is really great and I would love to see it finished. The Quick Portrait is fantastic as well. Keep up the good work man. I'm interested to see more life studies and some more completed works.
Hello, I'm new at character modeling and I would appreciate it if I could get some critique from the community. I've seen all of the awesome work and know everyone here knows what they're talking about! I love constructive criticism! This first model is supposed to be a 3d self-portrait and the second a cave monster called…
I'm starting my first likeness portrait from scratch. I thought it would be fun to post WIPs and have people guess who it will be. If someone gets it right it will tell me I'm on the right track :) Here is the first WIP. I spent approximately 3 hours. Hint: He is a fairly well known actor. Constructive Criticism Welcome!

Some cool stuff AlexTooth. For now all I would say is that on that last image the ogre could use a more dynamic pose, and there are some wonky things going on with the figure diminishing in space, particularly around his face. But nice work on the portraits, esp. the first redhead.
For face studies, you should focus on drawing from life. Gather some photos of people (friends are fun to do) and do portraits. You'll expand your visual library this way. If you wanna get more in-depth of structure drawing some skulls is a good idea.
Hear hear, I've got a Sigma 35mm 1.4 with my name on it, if it actually ships by xmas. Though I'm a little curious why you went with a macro lens over something like the Nikon 85/1.4 or 85/1.8 both of which are excellent portrait lenses.
Yes! Put that on your desktop somewhere, and resize the Zbrush window with the "seethrough" option on, and keep modelling adapting the shapes to the image behind! I used it for my 3D portrait we had to do at uni. It really helps when trying to get the shapes right. keep it up!
