It's a good start. Did you ever see Interstellar? My favorite part of the movie (from a design standpoint) is a planet of frozen rock. The rock reads like rock, but not like any rock formations I've ever seen on this planet. Might take a page out of that notebook?
I would had way more lava, less rock. Zac is a blob, not a rock. Malphite is a rock. He needs to be bloby (is that even a word XD) remember that he stretch, he squash he explode. A rock can't do that, you need liquid, much liquid.
nice rocks! as for taking it further, try having different types of rocks in there too, right now the texture is good but it gets boring because it's the same texture all over everything. try different rock shapes as , rock faces can be sexy as hell you know. and yes do a small concept or gather refs and work off for them.
Your normal is just the cracks between the rocks, which makes the rest of the normal map entirely flat... which makes all the rocks at the same "height". I'd toy with making different rocks slightly higher/lower than others and of course include your dented parts of the rocks in your normal, to just have the grout makes it…
Awesome stuffs! But how are you going to do straps with the torso armor? You'll need to lock it in the back and front for it to not look like it's going to fall off. And right now your awesome wing design is fucking that idea imho, and quite hard. :) Personally, I would leave his upper body bare and work with textures to…
Killzone liberation, Syphon filter, if your into fighters guilty gear, Street fighter alpha 3, and tekken are very well done for the PSP. Daxter and Ratchet and clank are among the best games on the system. Oh and Lumines and Loco Roco are great if you can get them for 20 dollars or less. For Ds Games Try Custom Robo…
I have a question about creating Edge-distress. Okay so in this example you would just create a tilable texture for the majority of the rock wall, then would you have to make separate textures for all the rocks that are not flat 2d objects? Or would you somehow reuse the tilable texture and map the 3d rocks to it? the…
Who I don't really know much about 3d modelling. I tried different software ages ago and 3ds max was the only one that I could use to create models without reading anything or using tutorials. I got 3ds max 2011 long time ago but haven't really done anything with it until now. What After spending way too much time to…
The rocky texture is looking much better in your newer shots. I agree with Kawe, though - some of the materials are starting to look a bit -too- alien. I understand you're going for an alien environment, but people still like to see things they can relate to - when they get too strange, it just emphasizes that the image is…
Hey this looks really cool so far, surprised you haven't had any comments yet. For me, overall it's great. But there's a lot of fine micro-detail in your textures, which makes it a bit busy overall for the eyes. It's looking a bit like the whole cliff is made of mud or dirt, from all that high-frequency detail. And there's…
