@Bugpfeife top work! great texturing and detailing in the end ..it looks real  @Shyralon keep going dude what you have so far looks really good I'm calling it a day on mine, end result probably not great ..but I'm taking participating, learning loads along the way! and completing the damn thing as a win
Honestly, we all wish there was a magic bullet for this, but the closest we got is Xnormal and Blender (since these two use the same tangent baking basis for the normals) so it can be hard, I know the feeling and all it is all about different methods in different assets at the end of the day. The only thing I can recommend…
I might even recommend ignoring mental ray and going with a different renderer. There is a huge renderer competition to be the best these days so you have MANY choices, and mental ray is not even on the map. The standard of quality is Vray. But there is a plethora of GPU based renderers to choose from for any software…
I almost bought a PSP the other day for loco roco and katamari. The DS and PSP are pretty much the same price here in Japan now, because the DS is virtually sold out, still.
http://www.interfax.cn/showfeature.asp?aid=4913 "This timing mechanism can prevent young people from becoming addicted to online games," the itinerant logic is questionable at best there... complain all you want about how games are handled these days in the US, we're not dealing with anything nearly as insane as this. i…

Why not just do a cylindrical unwrap to begin with, pin the central faces, then unfold? Or just do a slight manual scale of the outer bevelled edge. I'd be interested to know if the max version of the tool does anything different/better when fed the same UVs. Really fighting the urge to ramble about how spoilt the young…
Hey guys, thanks for the feedback. GDC comes up in just a couple days here and I am wrapping up the environment the best as I could for my portfolio. It isn't finished without the Mech of course, however I will continue to post progress and work on this WIP until it is fully finished with the Mech. Here are some more…
I like the soft look his flesh has. You can really feel the fat under his skin. He feels sort of hand drawn to me, which is a refreshing change from the swarms of too-perfect models out there. If I were to suggest anything, it would be that his legs seem a bit too thin for his torso. Great model though, I hope I learn to…
