I'm making a modular road system and it's going great, minus my crevice normals not lining up. I can get them close by trial and error, but there has to be a better way to precisely place these so they line up. Any tips would be great. Thanks!
Hey guys, haven't posted here in ages, but getting back into this life. Working on a modular room kit for a game project that's trudging along. I would love any crits or suggestions on what I can improve on. I am creating this three-way join piece and wanted to know how the topo looks or how I could improve.. not sure if I…
Hello everyone, This is my first attempt to create a modular character, so I would appreciate some comments and feedback ^^ So far I've created a base mesh for it and I'm now making a list of parts that I need to model. This base mesh has around 2k tris. I'm aiming to have around 2.5k tris for each character. Not sure if…
Building and creating modular pieces is a task.. Which i enjoy. But my question is about the interior vs exterior part. When doing exterior parts, i usually keep my "wall meshes" flat cause you want me entering the building! But if i do that with my interior (only interior) keep them flat instead of giving them thikness, i…
Like I'm not just trying to get a lightmap, I want to do a megatexture of some sort where I unwrap this whole set piect, then subdivide and add more detail and re-bake? This will also export to unity as 1 piece instead of 496 modulars - or 12 batched. Someone has to have some knowledge of this and best methods. For example…
Hi Everyone, I've finally finished that tutorial I've been promising since forever: Making modular environments in UDK. In this tutorial I go over a lot of techniques that I learned when creating Zest Foundation. Although I used UDK for this tutorial the concepts can easily be adapted to other engines. Let me know if you…
Because I couldn't make it to GDC this year I decided to spend some time working on a new modular Mass Effect inspired environment. The original trilogy was the main inspiration and specifically the Grissom Academy in ME3. It was a fun learning experience where I really got to work on my lighting skills. Check out more…
Hey guys :) I always wanted to build a huge modular system with arcs, stones, pillars and s**t, ....aaaaand finally I startet it!!!! Barely finished the first modules and throwed them into UDK. Holes and z-fighting everywhere, lots of stuff is still do to. Everything is work in progress of course... I'm not really looking…
I’m working on a modular kit for unity and am using
Zmodeler to make the wall sections and such. My big issue is
aligning everything exactly on the same vertices and edges as the adjoining pieces.
Is there a way to move an entire Island of polygons to the location of another
without merging the two surfaces so it’s…
Prologue: Still in the very early stages of building out this Sci-Fi scene but I'm struggling with a few things, such as picking an engine, so I thought I'd just get my thoughts down here on this thread and get some community feedback while I post some WIPs etc. Planning & Thought Process: I wanted to create a Sci-Fi…
