Sampson: Thanks for the tip. I was aiming on doing a nr 2 modell of this roadblock so I can have som more variation to the map/level. It will be ugly if I just use this one all over the map.. so one "whole" block and one "destroyed" block. :) And yeah, I need to go back to the textures for the block, but is hard not to go…
Gotta watch all those "Best Picture" nominies besides Little Miss Sunshine (Fantastic movie). As for VFX I have seen Poseidon and Superman. Superman definatly gets my nod...the CGI with the rocks were just stunning. Pan's should hands down win best forgein launguage film, make up, art direction and origional score.…
Yeah, we need more COOL FANTASY CHARACTER or LOWPOLY STYLIZED FEMALE CHARACTER style competitions. Cgchat and gameartisans and polycount all always had vastly more success with a broad, but fairly clear theme. Silly dominance war style shit is stupid and takes away from the art side.
Hey man, this may not be extremely helpful, but this site shows a lot of designs that are some of the best skateparks I've ever seen. http://suburbanrails.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/PWDA.woa/wa/loadPage?pageId=1675 Also on a personal note, being a Houston skater this is my favorite skatepark in the world.…

The thing I've found CGtex most useful for is overlays. You could pick a rust, desaturate it and do a very minimal overlay onto the stones and…
The symmetry still won't appeal to most modelers, since all it does is make it easier to use symmetry. You don't have to slap a sym map on the mesh - just toggle the button in the MCP. I also noticed that when using proportional falloff it messes up symmetry calculations when tweaking for instance. So you still can't…
I remember someone wrote a MEL script for this ages ago over at CGTalk, but it was for Maya 5 or 6 I think. edit: I think it was this, but haven't tried it our personally. http://www.safakoner.com/rnd/sobrowser/sobrowser.html
$60 USD now are worth about $30 1985 dollars (and that is not even counting the bullshit numbers they use to cook the CPI these days). In 1985 I remember buying games brand new for $48. I think games are a much better deal than they used to be. http://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl
