Baking in Zbrush simply captures the difference between subdivision levels. It worked ok a decade ago if you were sculpting details via alpha brushes, but it's not so great if you are actually added new geometry. If you add new geometry - even something minor like an inserted screw - then that geometry needs to exist on…
The interface in Blender takes some getting used to, especially if you've grown accustomed to other packages like Maya or 3ds Max. But you can't beat the price, and there are some nice tutorials that explain how the interface is set up here. Blender's 3d painting and sculpting work fairly well for what they are. You can…
Introduction Hello everyone! I thought I'd introduce myself first as this is my very first polycount post. I am currently a university student working towards becoming a industry 3d character artist. I have around 3 years of experience prior to school working in freelance. This month of school I have a lot of free time to…
Hey everyone, I'm currently working on a stylized-but-semi-realistic project, and I need to create a pair of tassel earrings similar to these: My main goal is to make them look visually appealing and believable, but still optimized enough for use in a near low-poly or game-ready environment. I'm using Blender and ZBrush,…

So I've been having a hard time sort of grasping when Zbrush is appropriate. It seems like a lot of people think it's appropriate for all situations, but others seem to do a lot in 3ds or another package before touching Zbrush. I've been trying to integrate Zbrush into my workflow, and I've just been having some lingering…
I will provide an image of my problem below but ESSENTIALLY my lightbox thumbnails do not appear in lightbox and they all show up as black images. My thought process was well maybe lightbox is just being odd and they will still load into the brush texture. When I choose an image it infact gets loaded into spotlight however…
Also! To illustrate the "dark" im talking about: This is the same model. The image on the left was last night and the image on the right is today. No, there is not polypaint data and there is no mask on the character. Ive closed and re-opened zbrush, left it open and created a new document.... im at a loss here. Please…
I know I can increase my brush size and tap the curve to adjust the object size, but the curve resolution becomes lower the bigger your brush size is. If I then decrease CurveStep to counteract this, my inserted mesh overlaps along the curve... if I turn on "stretch mode" to then counteract that.. my mesh is then squished…
