This may seem like a very simple question, but the issue is that the smoothing of the cone is smoothing the tip, which is not what I want it to do. I understand why it does smooth it like that, but I'm not sure what's the best way to prevent it from happening. I created three low-poly cones (38 Triangles each) and a…
Even better, there is a Smooth modifier. It smooths using "smoothing groups". If two polygons are in the same group, they get smoothed. If they are in different groups, they remain sharp. You can even set "Smooth by angle", turn on "Auto Smooth" and then set the angle treshold. Then a cylinder could have its round sides…
I could be completely wrong about this, but I though Max uses face smoothing rather than edge smoothing. In Edit Poly, using the Polygon selection, scroll down in the toolbar. you'll see the 32 buttons for smoothing. Select the faces you want to smooth and give them one smoothing groups. If you want a hard edge, use a…
Hi I'm quite confused about this concept. I've seen that some people doesn't follow at all the smoothing groups in their workflow, when they are doing the unwrap. I know that for instance UDK convert any UV island in a smoothing group. So in the case of rectangular objects, some people use to put smoothing groups to get…
This is probably a noob question, I don't even know what to search for here. When smoothing weights with the brush, it always favors lightening the darks. Is there a way I can get a more ...averaged(?) smoothing that also darkens the lighter values? In this case I'm painting out portions of a blend shape I don't want, but…
Hey guys, This may sound stupid but I'm trying to make the Smooth Stronger be the default smooth brush when I press Shift...without success :poly124: So...I need some help. Thanks!
The difference between the new section and the old section is the smoothing groups. The new section has no smoothing on it. Read some help files on smoothing groups.
Throw a smooth modifier on it. In the dialogue check the auto smooth box. Collapse the modifier. That should clear it up. If not then manually set your smoothing groups.
I need help smoothing the trigger hole of this colt python. The traditional support loops creates creases, and trying to smooth those creases create different creases. How am I supposed to get the tightness the support loop provides with maintaining the smoothness of the area around it. The mesh in blue wires is the mesh…
Hey guys, I was having a discussion with a mate regarding smoothing groups in engines and I wanted to know if you can put everything in one smoothing group or is it best to have everything on 90Degrees separate? I know that in UDK you can put them all in 1 smoothing group and let the engine do the rest, is CE3 the same?
